Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcakes for Halloween

My friend from California gave me this recipe in the 1980s. It was a recipe that had been in her family for years.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups soft cream cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 Tablespoons vinegar
  • ⅔ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients.
  2. Mix well and set aside
  3. In another bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Put Halloween cupcake liners in a cupcake pan
  6. Fill each cupcake liner ½ full of the flour/cocoa mixture
  7. Spoon 1 Tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture on top of the cupcake.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes
