Sugar Cookies

- ⅔ cup butter
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon lemon or orange zest
- 1 egg
- 4 teaspoons milk
- 2 cups flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Cream butter, sugar, vanilla, and zest.
- Add egg, beat until light and fluffy
- Stir in milk and dry ingredients
- Put the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour
- On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to ¼ inch thickness
- Use snowflake cookie cutters
- Bake on greased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes
- Remove from pan. Cool
- Frost with royal icing; use tips #2, #3 to make the design
