I took cooking classes from Marlene Sorosky in the 1980s. One of her classes included this recipe for the best hot fudge sauce recipe. I've made it dozens of times over the years for every holiday. It also makes a wonderful gift paired with chocolate chip cookies for dipping

Serves: 3 cups
Ingredients
5 one-ounce squares of bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate
½ cup of butter (4 oz)
1-pound powdered sugar (3 ½ cups)
1 large can evaporated milk (12 fluid ounces)
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
Melt chocolate and butter.
Remove from heat
Add powdered sugar and milk. Blend well
Cook over the stove for 8 minutes; stirring constantly
Remove from heat and add vanilla
Pour into three 8-ounce glass jars or four 4-ounce glass jars
Once cool, refrigerate.
Label: Reheat very slowly. It may be stored for 1 month in the refrigerator
Makes about 3 cups of sauce.
