This recipe works well for high altitudes--2500 feet and above

Serves: 3 dozen
Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Cream butter with 1 ½ cups sugar
  2. Add eggs; beat until combined
  3. Sift the dry ingredients together
  4. Add to butter and sugar; beat until combined
  5. Form balls the size of walnuts; put in a plastic bag
  6. Freeze overnight
  7. Combine the 2 T sugar and 2 t cinnamon
  8. Remove cookies from the freezer
  9. Roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture
  10. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper
  11. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes
  12. Cool on rack
