Buttermilk Biscuits

Serves: 1 dozen
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoons cream of tartar
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- ½ cup butter (or one stick)
- ⅔ cup + 2 Tablespoons buttermilk
- Sift all the dry ingredients together for even distribution
- Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until they resemble coarse crumbs
- Add the buttermilk
- Mix and gently knead until the dough forms a ball (for taller biscuits)
- Roll out, and cut with a round cookie cutter
- Place on an ungreased baking sheet
- Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes
