The Best Cinnamon Rolls Recipe: Healthy Smart Kids in the Kitchen!

This is an amazing cinnamon roll recipe that I've made with my sons since the 1970s. Your children will learn all about yeast and what ingredients make things rise.

Serves: 3 dozen
Ingredients
  • ⅔ cup instant dry milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter (1 stick)
  • 1 ½ cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 packages active dry yeast
  • 7 cups flour (may need to add a bit more)
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl mix together the dry milk, sugar, butter, water, salt and eggs and yeast.
  2. Add 2 cups flour to the mixture above. Mix well
  3. Add the rest of the flour (about 5 cups) to form a soft, pliable dough.
  4. Put the dough into a large bowl that you have coated with butter or shortening.
  5. Let rise until double—about 2 hours
  6. Punch down and let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes
  7. During these 30 minutes, prepare the filling for the rolls (see below)
