It is Saturday and more than likely you are exhausted! So, here are some ideas for anyone wanting to de-stress, relax, and unwind.
Idea #1: Go to a Movie.
There are times when just sitting in a movie can be very relaxing–and allow you to escape into someone else’s life. If you’re on a strict budget, check to see when the bargain movies are available. If you have a friend, spouse or sibling and don’t want to be alone–take them with you.
Idea #2: Go on a Walk
Walking is amazing exercise; allows you to increase your endorphins and is amazing for getting rid of excess stress. Each day plan a certain time you will walk and then keep to it. You will be a better person and parent by giving yourself some time to exercise.
Idea #3: Lunch with Friends:
There is something very soothing and uplifting when we go to lunch with friends. It’s a time to feel like a person again and not just a “mom.” Plan a date with a friend or a spouse and if you need to do it every week to maintain sanity–do it. If you can’t do it without the kids–then call a mom with kids and go to a place that has a children’s indoor playground that you can watch them while you talk and eat with your friend.
Idea #4: Go Shopping
Some people love shopping and use it as a way to relax–if that is you–by all means go shopping. If over-spending is an issue–don’t take the credit card–just take cash. Or, make a commitment that you are just looking, browsing or window-shopping. Shopping allows you to get away from the kids for a bit and just unwind and see what’s going on at the mall.
Idea #5: Get a Facial, Massage or Pedicure
Just being pampered can mean the world to someone frazzled and stressed-out. If someone asks you what you want for your birthday or for another holiday–ask them for money and tell them you would like to put it towards a pampering day. And then do it! Just that hour having a massage or facial can revitalize your spirits and help you to be a better parent.
Try one of these–you will be glad you did!
Relax, Enjoy and Unwind!
