He was born in 1866 (my dad didn’t know him—just heard stories about him). 🧡📹I love this picture of Lewis on this amazing bicycle! While in Oregon working at a lumber company, his foot was caught in the belt of the machine and broke his leg. The doctor was an idiot, did a botched-up job of setting his leg and put him in a room with someone with smallpox—which Lewis then caught. Eventually, his leg was amputated. 💛📸Showing photos—is a great way to bring back family memories and trigger stories of people from the past! 💕PS: Once you ask a question—let them go in the direction they want. He was lucid and had lots of fun telling me about his family, his pets, his involvement in WWII, his hobbies, etc. These are pictures of my dad when he was a little boy (he is the youngest). Taking oral or video histories is a way of preserving the wisdom of your ancestors. 💛📹Unique oral & video histories are memorable but photos are priceless too and tell a story—as in this wedding photo of my husband’s grandparents (who are both deceased). ❤️📸The history behind this wedding photo is priceless and was discovered when my husband interviewed his grandmother and captured her voice talking about the events of her wedding day. All of these gorgeous dresses were made by her mother, Minna—Mark’s great-grandmother. ❤️📚Okay, I’m the mom—and sometimes we just have to brag about our offspring. This is one of those moments… 💙My second son, Ryan is an English professor at Salisbury University in Maryland. He’s also a prolific and talented writer. 💚📚Ryan’s traveled all over the world speaking at conferences and has been published in over 100 literary magazines. His latest honor is being published in Conjunctions. 📚Conjunctions is one of the premier literary journals in the country, although it’s mostly only known among writers. It publishes experimental and innovative writing, which is probably why most people haven’t heard of it—few NYT bestsellers are going to make it in here because this is a place for real art.
