When our kids were growing up, we celebrated 34 different & meaningful Christmas traditions each year (overkill, I know). ❤️Years ago, a study was conducted on the importance of Christmas traditions. Two questions were asked— “What did you get for Christmas last year?”—which no one could answer because they couldn’t remember. 💚And— “What Christmas traditions did you celebrate last year?” That question brought a flood of memories of Christmas traditions to the minds of the participants. ❤️That’s the power of traditions! 💚On my post, there are 45 different Christmas traditions—and not enough time—so go to the post if you want all 45. ❤️💚MAKING A CHRISTMAS SCENE! 🎄Our grandkids' FINAL Christmas scene! They took all their different Christmas trees & decorations—the cardboard, the tape-resistant, and the polka dot trees along with the snowflakes and created this scene. (The small one was done by the 2-year-old) ❤️🎄We recycled the village houses they did a couple of years ago to their scenes to make them look like Christmas villages (purchase The Winter Village Drawing Guide for the scenes by @artwithmrs.e) 💚🎄What do you think of their final result? Next, they painted them with different colors of liquid watercolors. ❤️ONE LAST THANKSGIVING IDEA--PAINTING LEAVES & GOURDS! 🤎🍁Next year—when it’s close to Thanksgiving or even if you just want a fun Fall activity—try painting real leaves, gourds, and tall pumpkins. 🧡🍂I needed a quick activity for the grandkids right before Thanksgiving—we went on a walk to gather the leaves (I was amazed how many were still on the trees—and even green ones) and to a pumpkin patch—they only had yellowish tall pumpkins and gourds that were rotting in the field (it was definitely the end of the season). 💛🍁 gave each grandchild a paper plate with different Fall colors to paint their gourds/pumpkins. Well, most of them mixed all the colors together creating MUD—and after painting them, they doused them with glitter. 🤎🍂The leaves turned out really pretty—the grandkids used ONLY 10 bottles of glitter to decorate them (and I’m not kidding). 🧡🍁However, I’m still vacuuming up glitter from the 4 corners of the house. The vacuum isn’t doing its job, so I’m on the ground picking up those darn blue ones. My friend, @cindyrischelwood told me about this 20 years ago—and it’s a family favorite! 🧡Take a piece of cardstock paper. Create a title at the top: “I Am Grateful to You Because…” Punch 2 holes and string ribbon through the holes so each person can put the paper over their heads; hang them from their necks and flip them to their back. 💛Throughout your Thanksgiving festivities, have everyone write notes of gratitude to each person at your celebration. 🤎The only blip—no one wants to stop!
